Hi there. I have been hearing a lot about income protection insurance or IPI, but I really don't have an idea what it is. How does this differe from permanent health insurance?
We have been trying to get IPI for our workers, we are in construction and our workers would really be benefitted from income protection insurance, but no insurer would take us on.
For manual jobs, it might be more difficult to get cover. This is because your workers are more at risk of getting injured or getting sick. You might be able to get a group insurance but it would be very expensive.
Income Protection Insurance provides an income benefit payment if you are unable to work as a result of disablement through sickness or accident. How much cover you need depends on your own situation.
