Default LifeStyle Change

Hello - Im looking for some advice;

I have HealthCare through my work as a flexible benefit, although it doesnt cost me anything on the scheme I have to pay for my partner and my daughter.

My partner has just got a new job where she also gets HealthCare included at no cost.

My partner and I have just got married, a couple of weeks ago. I have approached my HR team as I believe that as the marriage is a lifestyle change I can make a change to my flexible benefits. My intention was to drop my new wife from my HealthCare and only pay for my daughter.

My HR team are saying that although I have a lifestyle change the lifesytle change doesnt match the change that I want to make to the benefits and they will not allow me to do it. this is going to cost me roughly £540 while I wait until April next year, whent he window opens for me to make changes.

Is this correct? Do I really have to wait until April even if I have a lifestyle change? Do my HR team have the right to determine what is and isnt a lifestyle change based on my circumstances?

Any advice appreciated.
