Default Employee retention problems crop as as benefits are cut

Aon Consulting has released a survey where in half of the respondents signified that they are thinking about quitting because of better compensation and benefit packages elsewhere. The survey involved more than 7,500 workers in Europe.

This only applied to UK employees right? Other countries had satisfied employees like Belgium and the Netherlands.

Aon Consulting said that this was the effect of the benefit cuts, or what they call "austerity plans". The salary freezes or cuts really have a negative effect.

The thing is that this one affects key people within the organisation. So you might really need to beef up your retention programmes or get stuck and lose your key personnel.

I would also look for a better company with a better compensation package. I can relate!

I definitely think that benefits are a major issue for employees now. Benefits are shrinking due to cost, and good benefits are important to people, especially those with a family. Frankly, the rise in income is slower than ever, which means better insurance means less co-pay. This might be a different story if incomes were rising equally with the cost of everything. I know that it's hard for me to offer exceptional benefits simply due to cost. As an owner, I would love to give them the very best if I could!

Post Re:

Conducting exit interviews is a great way to gauge employee satisfaction with your company and find out exactly what is driving people away from your business. While the desire to cut costs is understandable, the decision to reduce or eliminate programs designed to encourage employee job satisfaction may be a ticking time bomb.
