This one i've been offered is actually a step back if anything and i think i've only been offered it as a way of getting me out of the office as there is a restructuring of the current secretariat happening where i am. I was also told that they cant guarantee a job for me in my current office after the 6 months secondment is up, i thought they HAD to hold a job open (not necessarily the one you leave i understand that). Is this a legal way of "getting rid" of someone out of the structure - i'm guessing not!!!! I am not going to take the offer but i'm just wondering if i dont take it then i will have a big target on my back come the time the restructure is agreed!

Hi Wendy:
It is illegal for them to fire you while you are on secondment. If they do, you will still be entitled to a redundancy pay. Remember that your employer remains to be your current company, not the host company.
