Default Personal Question: Is sending out your resume to an unnamed company a good idea?

I've seen a particular job ad that really piqued my interest. But alarm bells went ringing when I saw that the ad did not state the company's name and you are told to send your resume to a PO Box... is this standard practice? Would it be a good idea to send in my resume?

I wouldn't. For one, it could be my current employer who placed the ad. It would not end my career but it would certainly be awkward!

For me, I would not really. Any reputable company would at least tell you who they are before inviting you to send in personal details and documents like your resume.

I had an experience with this before and it turned out that the PO Box was owned by a recruitment company. They were able to place me with my current employer and I have been very thankful to them. It really would not hurt having your resume in the hands of people who are looking for somebody with your skills. It might be your key to greener pastures.

I would too, but I would limit the personal details on the resume that I send them.

You have to consider the position if it is a management post, I really think that it's from a good company who just wants to keep their hiring confidential, and I would send my resume in. But if it's lower than that, then, I'm sorry.

I would be very wary. It could just be a recruitment agency trying to beef up their resume file.

In any case, it would make sense to just send a resume that reflects your vital experiences and all that. Not too much information

I think you can send it to unknown company but you have to write in such away that it doesn't count as solicitation.
