Default Gender Pay Reporting

I am happy to report that there will be a provision on the Equality Act 2010 law that would require all employers to report on gender pay gap within their organizations.

That's great news! I think that this will get employers into a fairer work environment between men and women when it comes to pay!

I agree, if you are required to state just how much you are paying your employees, then you would be more upfront about it. It will also help women employees to know if they are being discriminated against or not.

This is an interesting development. I think I would like to see what happens when this comes into effect. When would this start?

This doesn't start until 2013, so don't hold your breath!

Hey, I also found out that it's not going to be applicable to ALL companies, but just those with 250 or more personnel But still it's going to be very helpful!

But then again, the equality act of 2010 also gives us another piece of good news. I have heard that confidentiality clauses or secrecy clauses that prohibits employees from discussing their pay would be outlawed. Yup, when the equality law is passed, you can easily ask your colleagues about how much they are getting without fearing that you'd be sacked!

Great law! I hope it leads to a more positive and fairer workplace, especially for women!
