Default Please tell me if this is discrimination !

Hi Peeps.

A friend of mine works in healthcare and he is gay. One his work colleagues found out about this a few weeks back and has been asking the manager to alter the work Rota so he is not on the same shift as him, and it looks like the manager appears to be actioning this. Surely this is discrimination on both thier parts !

Surely this is discrimination on both thier parts. You're right. People can be just jerks. Just read here in Answers. It is hard to be an immigrant in a small town. I feel for you.

It may be discrimination on the employees side but as a manager he needs to have all of his employees happy and working hard and efficient. If that employee was not working hard then he would have a problem so he had to switch that employee's schedule. I do not think this is discrimination.

I think this is not as exaggerate of what you think. This is not discrimination, the manager wants only to work their co-employee best i their capability. And maybe he think that schedule is fit for him. So he can work efficiently.

It might be difficult to prove this to be discrimination, unfortunately.

In this situation, it appears that the Manager is a one sided person.

We can call it discrimination in the part of that other personnel but as I understand he did not cause any harm to your friend. As for the manager, he just did what he think is best for his workers so that they could be more productive in their work if they are feeling comfortable in their work. Thank you very much.

I agree. Feeling comfortable at work is the best way to get your workers more productive. It can be called discrimination, but it just depends who to talk to. Thanks for your time!
